This poster is meant to show students how to properly do their laundry. Some of the good aspects of it are that it has a bold title that stands out, and it has pictures showing examples of what that specific step could look like. A bad aspect of the poster is that there is no defined alignment for the text and pictures.

This poster is meant to show that violence isn't the answer, and by doing so they use large, colorful words in a different font to make them stick out, and even put pictures of sad faces next to 3 of them. Also at the bottom of the words they have violence isn't the answer! in bold, black, big font which gets the point across. However i dislike that it only says to contact the conflict management center rather than giving other alternatives.

This poster is meant to advertise disciple makers christian fellowship. It has good alignment and the font size for the title of it is also good. I also like that it has a picture of a cross in the background to show that it is religious. However, i dislike that it doesnt give any details at all on what this group is about or what they do.

I chose to make a poster for the audience of incoming students to Bloomsburg University. I chose this because it could show that BU is safe and do so in a way that is pleasing to the eye so it would make students want to attend the university and know they can be safe in the process. The first poster I looked at showed students how to do laundry. This example gave me the idea to put pictures of what you can expect to see from attending BU, so I put a picture of an A + and a picture of a blank person that had just graduated. I used a blank person with a sign above them that read " This Could Be You" so a person looking at this poster could envision themselves attending this school and graduating from it. From the second poster, which was about how violence isn't the answer, I took the idea of having a couple of words or a slogan that would be used to influence the decision of the person reading the poster. The slogan I used was " A Safe Place to Bloom" because it is meant to show students that they can be safe at BU and not have to worry about anything except their academics. The last poster I used as a model was a poster about a christian group. The colored background of it gave me an idea to make my background colored as well.

Letter:
img002.jpg

This is an example letter from teachers to parents about a strike update. I chose this letter because it is about a specific subject that can be used to keep parents updated with the information about the strike. I like the format used in this letter because it states what the letter is a bout in large text at the top and then proceeds to list details about the subject, which I could use for my letter.
welcome letter.JPG
This letter is similar to the one above because it is from teachers to parents, however, it is younger students and the letter is made to look more childish because of this. I like how this letter uses pictures and also has a creative border. However, I don' think this letter would be a good for my topic.

Traditionalprintabsencetoparents2.jpg

This letter is from a teacher to a parent as well but instead of it being a letter to update/inform the parent about the school itself, it is about their kids attendance record. I liked the way they formatted the period and absences in that period because it makes it easy to read. I could use that format in my letter to correlate the number of drinks and the affect it has on a person BAC.

I chose to target families of students that could be attending a college as the audience of my letter. The first letter I chose as a model was a letter to inform parents about a strike that was taking place at the school their children were attending. I used the idea of the borders that were shown in this letter in my own. I liked how it outlined the letter as a whole. The second letter I chose as a model was a letter that was from a preschool teacher to families of the kids in the school. I used the idea of sending a letter to the families rather than just the parents or just the students, so the audience is both parents and students instead of one or the other. The last letter I chose as a model was a letter from a school to a parent regarding the students class periods and the number of absences in each periods. I used that idea and made it into a chart of how many drinks a student has and how it affects their BAC. I chose to write a letter from Bloomsburg University to the families of incoming students informing them of the risks of drinking and how it can affect their academic performance while attending BU.

Satire Poster:

This example of satire relates to the genocide that was in Darfur, Sudan. It is making fun of the United Nations because they did not help Sudan in solving the political issues that lead to the genocide. I think this is a good example of satire because it takes and important topic and shows how the United Nations didn't help with the genocide in a comic-like picture. The comic-like theme of this piece can really catch the eye of the reader which I think is good.
National-Debate-Gun-Laws.jpg
This example of satire relates to the national debate on gun laws in America. The cartoon is making fun of how the politicians have no say in whats happening as shown by having his mouth zipped shut and locked by the NRA. I think this is a great example because it gets its point across and has a very creative picture backing up the point of the picture.

smoke-4-cure_600.jpg
This example of satire is my favorite example that I found, and it relates to breast cancer awareness. This picture is funny because it shows a pink pack of cigarettes and shows females smoking cigarettes and saying that they're saving their breasts. It makes fun of how crazy people go to support breast cancer, like football players wearing pink, and blows it out of proportion which is good for satire.

I chose to make a satire version of my poster I made for incoming students, however instead of portraying the image that Bloomsburg University is a safe and academic focused environment I made this poster portray the image that BU is a huge party school with no academic focus at all. The first satire model that I used was about how the UN was no help to Sudan when the genocide took place. They portrayed the image by making a cartoon-like comic strip. I took the idea of having a cartoon-like image on my poster. I think that cartoons work very well for satire because it shows its not a serious poster and makes it look childish and funny. The second piece of satire I used was a political comic that made fun of how politicians have no say in whats happening with the gun laws because the NRA is a powerful non-profit organization. I incorporated the cartoon-like aspect of this into my poster. The last satire model I used was about breast cancer awareness and it made fun of how crazy people get for it by having a pack of cigarettes that are pink for breast cancer awareness. They used a slogan at the top that said "Smoke for the Cure" and I used the idea of a slogan in my poster saying "Party Like A Husky". I also used my own poster as a model for satire. I used the idea of having a picture of the blank college graduate and instead used a picture of blank people dancing. Therefore it would give the reader the idea that they can see themselves dancing and partying rather than graduating in my original poster. I also crossed out the "Bloom" in Bloomsburg and made it read "Boozeburg, to emphasize on the alcohol influence in the parties at the university.
